Chimney sweep in Dallas–Fort Worth
NFPA 211, cited by the Chimney Safety Institute of America, calls for chimneys, fireplaces and vents to be inspected once a year, with cleaning and repairs when the inspection finds a need. We inspect the firebox, damper, smoke chamber, flue and cap, sweep creosote and soot, and send photos of what we found.
Signs your home needs it
- The fireplace hasn’t been inspected in the last year
- Smoke drifts into the room or the fire is hard to start
- A strong campfire smell, especially on humid days
- Black flakes of creosote in the firebox
- Animals or nests at the top of the chimney
Not every home needs service right away, and if yours doesn’t, we’ll tell you.

Chimney Sweep: questions
How often should a chimney be swept?
Inspect once a year. Sweep when the inspection shows creosote buildup, which depends on how often you burn and what you burn.
My fireplace is gas. Does it still need service?
Yes. Gas fireplaces and their vents should be inspected yearly for blockages, damage and proper venting.
When is the best time?
Late summer and early fall, before the first cold front. Fall and winter book up fast.
